Own Your Own Future

Texas GEAR UP has launched an exciting new college and career readiness website designed primarily for students and featuring corresponding resources for educators and parents. OwnYourOwnFuture.com provides students with a wealth of college access materials—including videos, activities and informational resources—all in short, easy-to-digest units. All materials are organized by grade level (7-12), and once a student selects their grade, they'll be directed through a path of four categories:

• Why Go To College?
• Prep For College.
• Find a College.
• Pay For College.

The Own Your Own Future site also has an entire section dedicated to educators. It's filled with classroom activities tied to each of the four categories—many of them directly related to the videos and resources on the student section of the site. Arranged by grade level, all the activities are downloadable for use by anyone, free of charge.

Because college preparation continues at home, OwnYourOwnFuture.com also provides information to help parents help their middle and high school students navigate the college readiness process. There will even be resources created specifically for educators who are working directly with parents to enhance their efforts.
