La Grange: On the Road to Mentoring

It’s a mentoring tale of two cities—and one concerned parent—as La Grange ISD develops a mentor program for their small, rural town. The model for their fledging program? Spring Branch ISD’s SpringBoard program, which was initially born out of a GEAR UP project. La Grange: Mentoring Makes an Impact

Nearly two years after its launch, the La Grange mentor program is still going strong. Texas GEAR UP checked backed in with some of the people closest to the program and found that students have been thriving since the mentors came into their lives. Challenges were overcome, community awareness is up, and the program has expanded into the high school.
