Cedar Hill ISD R.E.A.D.Y. 4 GEAR UP!

Cedar Hill ISD
Cedar Hill, Texas

The Cedar Hill ISD R.E.A.D.Y. 4 GEAR UP! project is primed to make a big impact on the lives (and futures) of its cohort—which started with students in both sixth and seventh grade. Partnering with UNT Dallas, The University of Texas at Arlington, Cedar Valley College, and a number of community-based and private organizations, the program is focused on firmly boosting its students’ and families’ educational expectations. And that support will extend all the way through the first year of college to help students navigate that tricky transition to postsecondary life.

Program Highlights

  • The program will focus on both cognitive (critical thinking, problem-solving, etc.) and non-cognitive (mindset, behavior, etc.) skill development to make sure that cohort students are college-and-career-ready in every possible way.
  • Working towards creating a true college-going culture, the project team will use outreach and marketing activities to establish closer linkages between participating schools, partners, educators, students, and families to enhance awareness about the value of a postsecondary education.
  • R.E.A.D.Y. 4 GEAR UP! will be providing educators with technology integration and instructional assessment/improvement to help ensure their students are ready to achieve and excel in college and beyond.
  • Years of Grant: 2017-2024
  • ESC Region(s): 10
  • Students Served: 1,075
