Get Ready For GEAR UP Week

Get ready, y'all! September 23–29 National GEAR UP Week and according to the Governor of Texas, it's also Texas GEAR UP Week! (They even gave us a proclamation to make it super legit.)

GEAR UP Week is an exciting nationwide event that is dedicated to getting students excited about their future, raising awareness in communities, and engaging families in a positive college-going culture. Perhaps more importantly, it's about having fun while recognizing the hard work and progress our students are making toward achieving their dreams. Want to get in on all the action? Here's a few ideas to get involved:

#MotivationMonday: Create a dream wall where students can write their future plans—including dream colleges, dream jobs, and future goals for some serious motivation. If students don't already have their future careers picked, have them take the Discover You Quiz or explore the 500+ careers on TXGU.com.

#TriviaTuesday: Host a game of Jeopardy:™ College-Prep Edition for some friendly competition and a chance for them to win some GEAR UP swag as prizes.

#WorkshopWednesday: Break down important topics from TXGU's high-school-to-college transition guide "Accepted! Now What?" and host a college-prep workshop in partnership with local businesses.

#ThinkTankThursday: Ignite some college-prep discussions with a TXGU video-watching party. Don't forget to use accompanying lesson plans for an extra-awesome learning experience.

#FridayFun: Play the Get a Life Game with your students for a taste of real-world budgeting, or get pepped up with a college-prep rally at your school.

Don’t forget to tag us in your GEAR UP Week photos so we can repost our faves. And for more information about and resources for GEAR UP Week, visit www.edpartnerships.org/national-gear-up-week
