On The Move

Most students you work with will spend their entire K-12 career in the same school district, with exception to the few who end up moving out along the way. But when it comes to students in military families the number of moves they are likely to experience will hit the double digits by graduation. And with over one million students being raised by a military parent, the need for a steady education is critical for success in college and beyond.

With  academic standards varying from state to state and district to district, students who travel with their military families struggle to get rooted in their new schools and effectively prepare for college. Thankfully, organizations like Military Families for High Standards are working to counteract the negative effects of frequent moves. And it's a good thing too, because if there's one thing on which parents can agree it's making sure the road to college is paved with equal opportunity.
