Stop, Drop, and Roll Call

Nothing sparks a good crop of metaphors quite like the concept of fire, right? You're fired up, you have that inner fire, you get fir—okay, maybe they're not all that great. And when it comes to your TXGU career, the absolute height of "not great" would be that fire in your belly dying out before you get to pass the torch to the next generation. Paying attention to how much pressure you can take is key to keeping yourself at your best. And when you're really cooking with gas, it helps your students towards excellence themselves. Basically, keeping an eye on your own wellbeing  is one of the most important things you'll ever do as an educator—after all, where there's smoke, there's fire. Hey, we said there were a lot of metaphors...

But with all the help, advice, and scholarly love you've been doling out, how can you be certain to get that all-important self-care in to make sure you're burning clean (as opposed to at both ends) in your career? We found a list (thanks, Time magazine!) that'll help you help yourself. As far as keeping GEAR UP educators in good condition, we'll share everything we can to help light a fire under you.
